Hello and welcome to Oakbrook Elementary, home of the Foxes! My name is Mr. Tim Shermak and I am the Principal of Oakbrook Elementary School. I am honored to serve as the leader of Oakbrook and continue my educational career here in Wood Dale. This is my 16th year in District 7 after teaching 3rd grade at Westview for 10 years, working as an Instructional Coach for 2 years and also serving as the Assistant Principal at the Wood Dale Junior High for one year. Please know that your child’s education and safety is extremely important to me and I look forward to working with each of our Foxes this year. I like to focus on the vision statement of District 7 that states, “Our students will be resilient, lifelong learners who strive for excellence and become engaged citizens.” Our job at Oakbrook Elementary is to provide students with the necessary building blocks of education to prepare them for their future as contributing citizens of our community. Together, we will strive everyday to make sure this is our number one priority!
I look forward to working in partnership with you in the educational and social/emotional development of your child throughout this school year and years to come in Wood Dale. One of our goals here at Oakbrook Elementary is to ensure that parents and guardians of our students, as well as students themselves, enjoy their years here at Oakbrook Elementary School. To best achieve this, I invite all of you to join the PTO, get involved at home and at school, have your child teach you a new skill, or simply sit down and discuss their day at school . We encourage you to learn more about our school and programs by navigating our website and reading the monthly Principal’s Newsletter. You can also follow us on Twitter @OB_Foxes or myself @MrShermak7.
The Oakbrook staff is dedicated to providing our students the best education possible. We strive to provide education that teaches our students to be self-directed learners, complex thinkers, quality work producers, reflectors, digital citizens, and community contributors. We want to raise awareness, drive change, take action, ask questions, find answers, make a difference, and start conversations!
I look forward to the new learning experiences that I will have alongside our students this year and years to come!
